122-th manned flight of the Soyuz. 42nd flight of the Soyuz spacecraft to the ISS. Gennady Padalka, Scott Kelly and Mikhail Kornienko joined Anton Shkaplerov, Terry Virts and Samantha Christoforetti in the forty-third crew of the ISS. Scott Kelly and Mikhail Kornienko began an One-Year Mission. They continued to fly in 44th, 45th and 46th crews of the ISS and returned to the earth in the Soyuz TMA-18M. Scott Kelly made the longest space flight among American astronauts: 340 days 8 hours 42 minutes. Prior to Kelly's flight, the longest flight among American astronauts were flying Michael Lopez-Alegria: 215 days 8 hours 23 minutes. During the flight Kelly also surpassed the record of the cumulative duration of space flights among American astronauts who belonged to Michael Fincke (381 days 15 hours 10 minutes). The total time of Kelly for 4 flights was: 520 days 10 hours 32 minutes. Until June 28, 2015, Russian cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev was the record holder for the total duration stay in space. He made six space flights, the total flying time was 19281 hours 39 minutes, or 803 days 9 hours 39 minutes. During the flight (June 28, 2015), Gennady Padalka surpassed Krikalev's record. After the landing on September 12 the total duration of five space flights of Gennady Padalka was 21083 hours 30 minutes (878 days 11 hours 30 minutes).
