March 27, 2015 Scott Kelly, along with the Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko went to the annual expedition to the ISS. This was Kelly's fourth space flight. During this flight, Kelly rewrote all American records of the duration of the flights. Prior to Kelly's flight, the longest flight among American astronauts was the flight of Michael Lopez-Alegria: 215 days 8 hours 23 minutes. Fourth Kelly's flight lasted 340 d 8 h 42 m 30 s. The record of the total duration of all flights among American astronauts belonged to MichaelFink , who made three flights and flew: 381 days 15 hours 10 minutes. After four flights, Kelly's time was 520 days 10 hours 34 minutes. Kelly's record of the total duration of all flights among American astronauts surpassed on September 7, 2016 Geoffrey Williams , who installed the new American record of the total duration of space flights: 534 days 2 hours 49 minutes.
