The 99th manned flight of the Soyuz. The 19th flight of the Soyuz spacecraft to the ISS. Roman Romanenko, Robert Thirsk and Frank De Winne joined Gennady Padalka, Michael Barratt and Koichi Wakata in the twentieth crew of the ISS. At the ISS for first time began work crew of six cosmonauts. Roman Romanenko became the third cosmonaut (after Sergey Volkov and Richard Garriott) in the second generation. Roman Romanenko's father is a cosmonaut Yuri Romanenko.
