In the cosmonaut group Gennady Padalka was selected in 1989.
On the first flight Padalka set off on August 13, 1998 on the Soyuz TM-28. On August 13, Soyuz TM-28 docked
with the Mir station. As part of the twenty-sixth expedition Mir station Padalka spent in space 198 days 16 hours
31 minutes. The second flight took place from April 19, 2004 to October 24, 2004 on the Soyuz TMA-4 and as part of the
the ninth expedition of the ISS. The duration of the second flight was 187 days 21 hours 17 minutes.
The third flight took place from March 26, 2009 to October 11, 2009 on the Soyuz TMA-14 and as part of the nineteenth
expedition ISS. The duration of the third flight was 198 days 16 hours 43 minutes. The fourth flight took place
from May 15, 20012 to September 17, 20012 on the Soyuz TMA-04M and as part of the thirty-first and thirty-second
expeditions of the ISS. The duration of the fourth flight was 124 days 23 hours and 52 minutes.
In his fifth space flight, Gennady Padalka set off on March 27, 2015 on the Soyuz TMA-16M.
After docking the Soyuz TMA-16M with the ISS, Padalka became a flight engineer for the forty-third ISS crew.
On June 10, Gennady Padalka was the commander of the forty-fourth ISS crew.
On June 28, 2015, three months after the start of his fifth flight, Gennady Padalka surpassed the total
time in space of Sergey Krikalev
803 days 9 hours 39 minutes. For more than two years in space,
Padalka is more than 12000 times circled the Earth.
In total, Gennady Padalka made 10 spacewalks, the total duration of 38 hours 33 minutes.
In the continuation of the twentieth sixth expedition of Mir station Gennady Padalka, together with
Sergey Avdeev twice went out into space. The first EVA - September 15, 1998 - the
duration of the EVA: 30 minutes. Second EVA - November 11, 1998 Duration: 5 hours 50 minutes.
In the continuation of the ninth expedition of the ISS, Gennady Padalka, together with
Michael Finck four times went out into open space.
The first EVA - June 24, 2004 - the duration of the EVA: 14 minutes 22 seconds.
The second EVA - June 29, 2004, the duration: 5 hours 40 minutes. The third EVA on August 3, 2004.

In the continuation of the twentieth expedition on the ISS, Gennady Padalka, together with
Michael Barrath twice went out into space. The first
EVA - June 5, 2009 - the duration of the EVA: 4 hours 54 minutes.
The second EVA on June 10, 2009, the duration 12 minutes.
In the continuation of the thirty-second expedition on the ISS, Gennady Padalka together with
Yuri Malenchenko made one EVA. The EVA took place on
